The Truth
03:34
|
|||
I can see the blue sky through a smartphone, it's beautiful
I can buy my way to fulfilment
I can spend my life at work, it's wonderful, what a privilege
To live the life a rich man thinks I deserve
And there's something in my mind
That tells me it's not right
And the world passes by
Yet they are blinkered in one eye
Will they ever see past you
And see the truth?
And they told me not to cry
Not even breathe out a sigh
Will they ever see past you
And see the truth?
Do you ever want to run, just to feel the wind in your hair?
Do you ever want to free your mind?
Do you ever want to sit just to gaze into the distance?
But the simple things in life require no purpose.
And there's something in my mind
That tells me it's not right
And the world passes by
Yet they are blinkered in one eye
Will they ever see past you
And see the truth?
And they told me not to cry
Not even breathe out a sigh
Will they ever see past you
And see the truth?

Green Light
04:52
|
|||
Your smile could conquer
All of the anxieties
That this world has to offer
Me, maybe
Your love could conquer
All of the anxieties
That this world has to offer
Me, maybe
But you're an ocean away from me
I can't swim that far
You're an ocean away from me
That's what makes me lose heart
Then I see the green light
And suddenly you're not far away
I see the green light
And hope returns once again
just for one second
Aaaa - aaaa - aaaa
I see the green light
And I will wait for you, once again
As we lay I wiped away your tears
I could feel your heart beating
And you said that you couldn't bear to see me
With another man
But you're an ocean away from me
I can't swim that far
You're an ocean away from me
That's what makes me lose heart
Then I see the green light
And suddenly you're not far away
I see the green light
And hope returns once again
just for one second
Aaaa - aaaa - aaaa
I see the green light
And I will wait for you, once again
Then I see the green light
And suddenly you're not far away
I see the green light
And hope returns once again
just for one second
Aaaa - aaaa - aaaa
I see the green light
And I will wait for you, once again
Once again
Once again
Once again
Once again

Trying
04:13
|
|||
Another day, another chance
To be consumed by a pointless endeavour
And now's your chance to be heard
As long as you don't mind being talked all over
Read a book and help yourself
paint your nails, then smile like you're supposed to
Wear your heels to your grave
Live the dream, like Cosmo had told you
I'm trying
To make some sense and be heard
I'm trying
To make it through this tough old world
I'm trying
But it never seems to be enough
I'm trying
But it doesn't matter
So they smiled and said to me
No, you couldn't have been there
When they were handing out that book
On how to be like everyone else
I'm trying
To make some sense and be heard
I'm trying
To make it through this tough old world
I'm trying
But it never seems to be enough
I'm trying
But it doesn't matter
I'm trying
To make some sense and be heard
I'm trying
To make it through this tough old world
I'm trying
But it never seems to be enough
I'm trying
But it doesn't matter

The Girl with the Cloak
05:36
|
|||
Tiptoe around, two feet on the ground
It's hard to work both
A smile on her face, she leaves but a trace
Of herself
The air is heavy, she tries to wade through
With some sort of grace
And small talk's a gift, that some can afford
But she can't find the words
The girl with the cloak encases herself
Away from this world
A mistaken belief, it slowly unfurls
All eyes are on her
She surveys the scene, everyone's a queen
Except her
Well what can they do, that I could not do?
She despairs
Their poise and their flair, perceived lack of care
Seem lost on her
So sure of themselves and all that they think
It must just be her
The girl with the cloak is hidden away
Under a vivid veil of shame
She's seeking comfort, where there's none to be found
until she's all alone
all alone, all alone, all alone....
The girl with the cloak encases herself
Away from this world
A mistaken belief, it slowly unfurls
All eyes are on her
The girl with the cloak, is hidden away
But she has so much to say
And as she steps back, she smiles to herself
Oh, she's a mystery
And no-one can take that from her
And no-one can take that from her
And no-one can take that from her
And no-one can take that from her

Fairytales
02:38
|
|||
When you were a little girl
You dreamed of your prince charming
On his lovely white steed
Only in fairytales
And you waited patiently
You waited for him
And he never appeared
And then you wondered
Could he ever exist?
And would he ever exist
In this world that you created?
There's a tint of rose in my past
And the facade, it fades too fast
It's always lovely while it lasts
But it's not the same when it ends
Do you believe in love?
Do you believe in fairytales?
And sugar and spice
And all things nice
The ghost of memories past
Comes back to haunt you
And nothing is real
At least that's how you feel
Could he ever exist?
And would he ever exist
In this world that you created?
There's a tint of rose in my past
And the facade, it fades too fast
It's always lovely while it lasts
But it's not the same when it ends
There was a sparkle in your eye
But the moment, it passed me by
It's always lovely while it lasts
But it's not the same when it ends

Stepping Stones
04:17
|
|||
I'm the one who's a stepping stone to the next girl
Girl with the Cloak, They only see her when they want
I'm the one who's a stepping stone to the next girl
Girl with the cloak, they only wanted half of her
I fell asleep, dreaming of him then I woke up
I fell asleep, thinking of him then he was gone
he wasn't there, when the photo had been shot
He wasn't there, he had left when I woke up
I'm the one who's a stepping stone to the next girl
Girl with the cloak, they can unveil her when they want
They changed their mind, they couldn't handle her for long
I stand defeated, but stepping stones can give me hope
